    On first hearing I was very disappointed with the quality of entries this year, but I've been a ESC fan since 1967, so I'm not easily put off. On second and third hearings I've completely changed my mind and think there are some really excellent songs competing this year. There are a few that are trying to copy Mans, but there are some that are genuinely good efforts and, the big difference for me, is that the English lyrics have improved.

    In the past non-English-speaking countries writing English have made some horrible errors and gross rhymes...but not this year, except perhaps for Serhat, and that's just adorable!!!

    Anyway, here's my ranking. Those I've missed out are a mass of mediocrity. I'm just treating them all as equally awful.

    3. Cyprus
    4. UK
    5. Spain
    6. Lithuania
    7. France
    8. Australia
    9. Finland
    10. Switzerland
    11. Macedonia
    12. Bosnia and Herzegovina
    13. Italy
    14. Bulgaria

    And I think that's about it.

    This is my opinion after hearing the songs a few time. Belgium is the song I had to listen to few times to find catchy so I leave it in top 10. Croatia and Italy have the best songs this year I think and I really like the Austrian too. I still can't understand all the fuzz about Russia this year... I've listen to that song like 5 times now and I do not understand why it is flying high when it comes to stakes... But my opinion will probably change after some weeks.. It's like 2 months until esc..
