Yesterday, January 5th 2023, it became known that the Czech Republic will choose its representative for the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 on January 30th 2023. The name of the national final will be “ESCZ 2023’.
ESCZ 2023
For the first time since 2008 the Czech Republic has chosen to find its next Eurovision representative through a televised national final. The venue for this event will be the ČT Studios in Prague. During the Czech national final 3 acts will compete to fly the Czech flag in Liverpool (UK). The ultimate decision will be made by votes of three different groups, which are: A professional jury, international fans, and national televotes.
Overwhelming response
The response to submit songs to the Czech national broadcaster was overwhelming, and resulted in over 170 song submissions, from Czech songwriters mostly, but all of them with Czech singers. It will be hard in the upcoming days for the organization of ESCZ 2023 to choose just 3 acts that will progress to the televised show on January 30th 2023. Next to the competing acts, more information about the Czech national final will be announced in the upcoming days.
